My Father and Bill Cosby

When Bill Cosby was on tv with his show in the late 80’s-early 90’s. he was considered “America’s Dad”. His show was called The Bill Cosby show, and his family was called the “Huxtables”. A middle-class black family with a father who was a fine upstanding member of the community. There was no torture no abuse on the show, just good wholesomeness.

My father was like Bill Cosby at that time. My father had been a Magistrate judge at one time, knew the Chief of Police personally, and was doing law work when I was growing up. Well, he had an office somewhere in town at the time, but I can’t say for sure just what he was doing there.

Fast forward to the recent past, accusers began to break their silence concerning Bill Crosby. First it was one (okay she may be making it up), but then more women came forward with their claims, well…..

At one point (I don’t remember when since I don’t do linear time), I remember thinking who is going to believe me, since it would be a he said/she said sort of deal. And guess who they would believe? A fine upstanding member of the community or me?

I know who people would believe, and it wasn’t me.

That plagued me for so many years, it’s not funny. And it was only during a recent conversation with my massage therapist during a talk, when she mentioned Bill Cosby, that I understood the connection.

Since my father knew the Chief of Police personally, I was doomed, particularly being a female. Females were second class citizens in the family, which further complicated things. My brothers, however, were golden. My younger brother once stole some beer out of a refrigerator in a garage. The result? Nothing. My father took care of that with the Chief of Police and no consequences were to be found.

My older brother did something to his wife or ex-wife at the time, I don’t remember which it was, but I remember arson or something similar like that was involved. He may have lit several small fires or something like that, perhaps burning her clothes or whatever.

He fled naturally, and I believe my father helped in as he ended up in Las Vegas. Don’t ask me how I know that, but all I know is that is the truth. I vaguely remember my father calling my brother to talk to him, while he was on the run. All I know is he ended up in prison for some offense. I have no idea what or how long it was.

More on this.

My Father and Bill Cosby is now live.
