PT. 1
Several months ago, I received in the mail an initial qualification from the county jury office. I filled it out and sent it back. A couple of months later, I received a jury summons. I was to call on a certain day. My intuition told me that it would be Monday (My jury day began the previous Thursday, for 5 days).
Sure enough, I had to report for jury duty Monday, (April fools day no less!) I will admit that I was a little nervous earlier in the morning, though I’m not sure why. Afterall, I did ended up in a jury 20+ years ago. At that time, I had no issues being on the jury or answering questions or any of that stuff. I did end up on the jury, reaching an answer to the case at hand. Note to self: never act as your own attorney.
Anyway, when I went in Monday, I ended up in the central jury room to fill out some paperwork. It was not a good experience. Now I will say that ever since I was a young teenager, it was brought up that my hands shook. My doctor at the time diagnosed me as having tremors. I did not notice at the time how my hands shook. I believe it was my older sister who noticed the effect. Thus, the diagnosis.
At any rate, when I woke up Monday morning, I was feeling a little nervous, which kind of surprised me. Afterall, I had served on a jury prior (20+ years ago) and there was nothing traumatizing about it.
So when I began to feel a little nervous about it, I started to use the tools in my toolbox to combat the effects of the nervousness. I arrived early, to make sure I found a parking space, which I did. I waited in line to go thru security. Once going thru security, I went to the main jury room.
I was seated by the jury manager at a table with 2 forms to fill out. That’s when the trouble started.
More to come on this.
